WAG Advanced Silver (FIG 2) About Me... Although I was never a great gymnast (should have chosen basketball with my height ;) ), Gymnastics has always been a massive part of my life. My siblings and I all started at our local club at 2-3 yrs old. All 4 of us were heavily involved for many years and I only left the club until I moved to Australia 25 yrs later. As a gymnast I did some artistic gymnastic, acrobatic gymnastics and tumbling and when I started coaching I coached pretty much any class someone was needed for: KinderGym, WAG, Tumble, recreational gym, Adult gym, …. Except for dance, that is definitely not my forte! Interesting little fact: in my club back home, and most other clubs in Belgium, coaching is a purely voluntary activity. And we had to set up and pack up all our gym equipment every lesson. Coaches here are spoiled ;). After I finished my uni studies I spent a year in education as a P.E. Teacher but eventually ended up working for the Flemish Gymnastics Federation as a coach educator until I travelled to Australia and got completely hooked to the weather, the outdoors and the friendliness of the aussies. Flyaway Gymnastics sponsored my visa, I moved to Albury in 2012 and the rest is history! You'll find me coaching... WAG ALP Competitive Squad GymAbility |
